2018 SPNAR Teams

2018 Season Fees & Information

  • The player fee for the 2018 Summer season is $300 for 12U-18U, $150 for 10U.
    • The first $100 of the fee was due by September 15, 2017 to hold a spot on a team; the $200 balance will be due by April 1, 2018.

    • A player will not be allowed to play or continue to be rostered until we receive their player fees and volunteer deposit (see volunteer information below).
    • Note that the actual cost to play exceeds $500/player. We make up the difference through our tournament and other fundraising opportunities.
  • A full uniform will be $100 (navy jersey, gray jersey, navy pants, gray pants, red belt, navy socks and red socks) for 12U-18U, and $50 for 10U (jersey, navy pants, socks and belt).
    • Returning players who need to replace/purchase uniform items (jerseys or pants) will be charged $25/unit (i.e. replacing one pair of pants is $25, both jerseys would be $50, etc.)
    • $5/each for an extra belt or extra pair of socks.
    • SPNAR will be providing new socks to all returning players at no charge for the 2018 season.
    • Uniform fitting is tentatively scheduled for mid-late January, and pick-up will be late in April.
    • Uniform fees will be due upon pick-up of the apparel; uniforms will not be handed out until paid in full. All uniforms (once paid for) are the player’s property.
    • Note that we do not gain financially through these apparel charges.
  • We will require a $150 volunteer deposit check from each family; a player will not be allowed to play or be rostered until we receive this deposit. We require at least 8 hours of volunteer time per family. (We will only cash these checks if a family tells us they elect to pay rather than volunteer or if the family has not completed their volunteer obligation during the season.)
    • Note that this organization is 100% volunteer driven; board members, coaches, etc. are not paid positions. As such, our fees are very low/competitive and we must rely heavily on volunteerism.

Team Selection / Player Age
SPNAR’s general stance on all decisions is based on 1) best interest of the organization (short and long term), 2) best interest of each individual team, 3) best interest of each player. With regard to this, as a general rule, SPNAR does not allow parents or coaches to decide whether a player will be allowed to “play up” (i.e. 14U aged player playing at 16U). This does not mean that players are never placed on an older team – it means that only under certain circumstances is this allowed. The SPNAR Board carefully considers these situations and only moves players up if there is a specific need on the older team AND if the younger team is not left with the need to fill that vacancy. (I.e. the younger team has a catcher who is moved up to the older team, and younger team must still have a catcher.) These decisions are not made without consideration of the Organization first, Team(s) second and Individual Player (third).
